La mémoire des cargaisons" is distinguished by its checkerboard "canopy", whose pearly beauty evokes both richness and mystery. Elegant and protective, it seems to conceal what rests in the boat, adding a narrative dimension to the work. More architectural in composition, the frozen boat suggests a moment of preparation before an imminent departure. The contrasts between the rough structure and the blue and gold enamel details reinforce the tension between utilitarian function and aesthetic refinement. Jean-Claude Canonne's glazed stoneware boats, part of a series in which the symbolism of travel and memory predominates, illustrate the encounter between technical mastery and visual poetry.
