Mâcle 1 - The third mountain

This sculpture stands out for its unique conceptual approach. More compact than the others in the "Mountains" series, it is inspired by the vision of "mâcle": an aggregate of crystals fused into a solid, powerful structure. Its skyward-stretching lines evoke a raw, almost primitive, pyramidal landscape, with the emphasis on minerality. Here, enamels are juxtaposed and superimposed, creating a matrix where earth and vegetation seem entangled. The texture, the fruit of the kiln's enclosed space, conveys a mineral density and intrinsic strength, as if the mountain itself had been crystallized in the depths of the earth.

Trilogie des Montagnes - Between emergence and minerality

These glazed stoneware sculptures, fired in a reducing atmosphere at 1300°C, from the "Hautes Brumes" series, embody Jean-Claude Canonne's vision of recreating the genesis of mountains in all their power and beauty. Through inspired enameling and modeling, he reinvents the processes of mineral and geological formation, like an echo of the telluric forces and volcanic eruptions that shape the relief.
These three sculptures, united by their inspiration but distinct in their expression, bear witness to Jean-Claude Canonne's technical mastery and artistic vision, offering a poetic and powerful exploration of the mineral world.
