"Observation, the acuity of the gaze, surveillance of the slightest hint of movement indicating possible prey. Lurking in wait, in intimate contact with the Earth, the patina allows it to melt into its resting place." Dominique Mufraggi

About the feline series

This series on felines is very dear to Dominique Mufraggi. He has a certain fascination for the capacity of these animals for discretion, solitude and determination in their cautious yet determined attacks. For him, they are high-level athletes who hide a lot and appear for their attacks like lightning. It is this set of characteristics that he attempts to capture in these volumes.

Dominique Mufraggi's plastic art captures the power of musculature, its slightly cubist synthesis, inspired by Tamara de Lempika's painting, which juxtaposes simple forms with subtle connections. So that the viewer can concentrate on the feline's attitude, he sculpts only part of the animal, opting for a frontal view to capture the most expressive part of the animal: the gaze, the mouth and the part that seizes the prey.

"What a marvel it is to observe these feline beauties. The moment I try to capture in these volumes is ephemeral. Its base is only temporary; it passes through it, surpasses it, crosses its limits. Perhaps tomorrow it will no longer be there" Dominique Mufraggi
